Procalcitonin (PCT) Test Kit (Fluorescence Immunochromatography)
Procalcitonin (PCT) is the prohormone of calcitonin (CT), which is generally less than 0.1ng/mL in healthy individuals. Its secretion increases significantly during pro-inflammatory responses, particularly bacterial infections. PCT is a vital marker for distinguishing bacterial infections from other inflammatory causes. While viral infections and autoimmune diseases do not typically cause significant PCT elevation, systemic bacterial infections and sepsis lead to high sensitivity and specificity in results.
Indications for Use: This kit is designed for the quantitative determination of PCT in human serum, plasma, or whole blood samples in vitro.
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Accuracy | Recovery rate between 85% and 115% |
| Linear Correlation | r ≥ 0.9900 (Range 0.1-100ng/mL) |
| Blank Limit | ≤ 0.05ng/mL |
| Sample Types | Whole blood, Plasma, Serum |
| Kit Components | Test card (monoclonal antibody 1 & 2), Desiccant, ID card |
| Compatible Instrument | Fluorescence immunoassay analyzer |
| PCT Concentration (ng/mL) | Clinical Significance |
|---|---|
| < 0.05 | Normal value |
| < 0.5 | No or mild systemic inflammatory response; possible local infection. |
| 0.5 - 2 | Moderate systemic inflammatory response; infection may be present. |
| 2 - 10 | High likelihood of sepsis, severe sepsis, or septic shock. High risk of organ dysfunction. |
| ≥ 10 | Severe bacterial sepsis or septic shock. Often linked to organ failure and high death risk. |
A: It is primarily used for the auxiliary diagnosis of severe bacterial infections, septicopyemia, and sepsis, helping clinicians distinguish between bacterial and non-bacterial inflammatory responses.
A: The reaction time is 10 minutes. Once the sample is added and inserted into the analyzer, the quantitative result is displayed almost immediately after the reaction period.
A: The kit is compatible with human serum, plasma, and whole blood samples.
A: The test kit can be stored at room temperature between 4°C and 30°C. It has a shelf life of 18 months.
A: Generally, viral infections, allergies, and autoimmune diseases do not cause a significant elevation in procalcitonin, making it an excellent marker for specifically identifying bacterial infections.
A: A compatible Fluorescence Immunoassay Analyzer is required to read the information from the ID card and provide a quantitative measurement of the test results.
